Logan's pain

This poem was born from a series of comics I read called the Red Dead Hand starring Marvel Comics Wolverine.  In the series Logan is drugged, shot and repeatedly attacked by a variety of strange and bizarre people only to find out each opponent put up against him that he killed were people deceived to engage him in combat were also his offspring.  His assailants were revealed to have been sent by a group the Red Dead Hand.  Wolverine kills all of those sent against him.  He escapes to a mountain so filled with grief and pain he continually hhurls himself off in an effort to end his own life but his healing factor will not let him die.

Logan’s pain

Berserker barrage
Adamantium claws
Yellow and brown
Fury and rage
School and X-Men
More animal than man
Not so much a hero
Claws stabbed a gyro
Discovered his spawn
Became foe after foe
Severely deceived
Blood flowed red
Legitimately depressed
Killed his next of kin
The Wolverine is ashamed
Heart is now broken
Seeking penance and repentance
Hurling himself repeatedly
Mountain peak rushes to meet
Snowy ground rushes faster
Than wind and sound
Grief cuts like a coral reef
The mighty mutant
For all his skills
Speed, aggression, strength, healing and claws
None can undo his trail of blood
Emotions undo him like
Water eroding in a flood
Seeking an end to his pain
Off the tall mountain
He hurls
His heart very broken
Ever healing
Unbreakable frame
Time and again nothing eases the pain
For his very own children
James Howlett Logan has slain

Wolverine can’t cope with this pain.
